A teenager walking in the Acosta Plaza area suffered a gunshot wound to the neck in a gang-related drive-by shooting.
The shooting happened about midnight Friday around 961 Acosta Plaza
. Salinas police said they searched the area but could not find the any shooting victim.
A little while later, a 19-year-old man, arrived at Natividad Medical Center. A relative had driven him there.
The wounded teen told police he’d been walking around Acosta Plaza when a white vehicle approached him from behind, and someone inside shot at him, hitting him in the neck.
Although his injuries did not appear life-threatening, medical personnel flew him to a Bay Area trauma center.
